The Challenge

As the Product Owner, I led the entire product lifecycle — from initial concept and market research through to launch and scaling. The platform enables merchants to accept crypto payments without deep technical knowledge, while maintaining full regulatory compliance.

Merchants wanting to accept crypto payments faced three critical barriers: complex smart contract integration, regulatory compliance uncertainty (AML/KYC), and fragmented multi-chain support. Existing solutions were either too technical for non-crypto-native merchants or lacked proper compliance frameworks.

How We Built It

Phase 1 — Discovery

Market Research & User Interviews

Conducted competitive analysis of 12 existing crypto payment solutions. Interviewed 20+ potential merchant users to understand pain points, compliance concerns, and integration requirements. Identified the gap: no solution offered both simplicity and regulatory compliance.

Phase 2 — Definition

Product Strategy & Roadmap

Defined product vision and success metrics. Created a phased roadmap: MVP (single-chain, basic payments) → V1 (multi-chain, dashboard) → V2 (AML/KYC integration, withdrawal management). Wrote detailed PRDs and functional specification documents for each phase.

Phase 3 — Design & Build

Wireframing, Prototyping & Sprint Execution

Led design sprints to create user flows for wallet connection, payment processing, and merchant dashboard. Managed 2-week Agile sprints with the engineering team. Made critical technical decisions on smart contract architecture and multi-chain support strategy.

Phase 4 — Launch & Scale

Go-to-Market & Growth

Coordinated launch across marketing, sales, and support teams. Established merchant onboarding process. Monitored product analytics to identify optimization opportunities. Managed exhibition booth design and presence at Web3 conferences.

Key Learnings

"Compliance isn't a blocker — it's a competitive advantage. Merchants chose BlockATM specifically because we solved the compliance problem they couldn't solve alone. I also learned that in crypto, user trust is everything: every UI decision had to communicate security and transparency."

What I'd Do Differently

  • Start compliance conversations earlier — regulatory requirements shaped more of the product than anticipated
  • Invest more in developer documentation from day one — technical merchants wanted deeper integration options
  • Build analytics dashboards sooner — data visibility became a key differentiator for enterprise clients
